UK FACET CUTTERS' GUILD

Promoting the Art of Faceting

Welcome

Welcome To the United Kingdom Facet Cutters’ Guild, open to anyone, of any skill level, anywhere,  interested in faceting. UKFCG members actively promote the art, share and advance their cutting skills, and knowledge of gems and gemmology. We happily answer enquiries, exhibit at rock and gem shows, and run an open competition. We also offer advice on machines, rough gemstones, books and equipment. Contact us for advice and a free sample magazine. Members get all this along with the option of personal mentoring, a second competition, our quarterly magazine Stonechat, plus the chance to strut their stuff at a Rock & Gem Show. We’re adding content daily to our  website, so please browse to discover more.

*Website update W/C 18th Jan 2021: Apologies for limited website functionality whilst we complete some updates. If you wish to  contact us in the meantime, please email guild@ukfcg.org. If you would like to apply for membership or renew your existing membership, please do drop us an email and we will send you the relevant information.

“A sense of achievement is undoubtedly the greatest reward, creating from a piece of rough… a gem which itself is a thing of beauty.”

The Guild
in Action

Our story

The United Kingdom Facet Cutters’ Guild was set up in August 1994 by a group of faceting enthusiasts who wanted to communicate with other faceters in order to improve skills by exchanging ideas and techniques. There was considerable interest in faceting in Australia and America at that time and we wanted to be involved in that activity.

Since then we have made considerable progress towards our goals. We do not have any meetings, except the AGM  (held in Bakewell each October) as our members come from all parts of  the UK (and beyond!). Instead we produce a quarterly magazine, Stonechat, to which members are invited to contribute articles and other items of interest. The links we have to a number of other guilds across the world also means that we can mutually exchange articles for the benefit of all members.
